The regional seminar is a part of the celebration of World Press Freedom Day 2014, which the UNESCO Kathmandu Office, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) and Human Rights Journalists Association (HURJA) are organizing in Western Region to take place on 12 May 2014.

The celebration will focus on the global theme “Reaching New Goals: Free media fortifies the post-2015 Development Agenda”. The seminar will be attended by 35 journalists from nine districts of Far Western region and discuss on the efficient approaches for implementing the Freedom of Expression Laws in Nepal.

The aim of this activity is to strengthen the environment for freedom of expression, press freedom, journalistic safety and self-regulation, as well as to develop an action plan for the efficient implementation of freedom of expression laws in Nepal.
