UNESCO Brasilia Office will celebrate World Press Freedom Day 2014 on 7 May 2014 with a discussion on "The Role of Free Independent Media for Good Governance and Democracy".

More specifically, a discussion will be held with key government partners, parliamentarians and media associations on issues related to the role of free media in strengthening good governance and sustainable development, the safety of journalists as a prerequisite element of the rule of law, and access to information and transparency.
